Thank you for considering making the journey to Kenya to celebrate my 30th birthday with me in February of 2025. I can’t imagine a more wonderful way to introduce you to the country that Marie and I have chosen to call home, even if just for a while, than by immersing you in the vibrant energy of Nairobi and the calm coast of Msambweni. Within these pages and via the menu, you’ll find essential information. Should you require anything further, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Tukutane Kenya.

NAIROBI

Upon arrival in Nairobi, we’ll begin our adventure with a couple of days exploring the city and a barbecue in our garden.
For your stay, I recommend booking accommodation in the neighbourhoods of Westlands, Spring Valley, Kileleshwa, Lavington, Gigiri, or Muthaiga. Airbnbs likely are the best choice, I’ve compiled a list of places to stay in.
See more on our stay in Nairobi here.

From Nairobi, we’ll take a short flight to the coastal airport Ukunda. The current one-way flight price, including luggage (July ’24), is approximately €80 per person. Please book any of the flights during the day yourself via either Jambojet or Kenya Airways. From the airport I’ll organise transport to Msambweni by car, which takes about 30 minutes.

We’re heading southeast to the coast, to a charming fishing village nestled beside a long, white beach. I’ve arranged accommodations for us, which we’ll share the cost of later (approximately €38 per night per person). Each house includes staff who will prepare our meals, and we can personally select fresh fish from the morning catch.
In Msambweni, we’ll mostly relax by the beach, but there are plenty of activities for those interested. You can find more details here.

After Msambweni, our trip concludes on the 26th. You’re free to stay longer, explore further, or join us in returning to Nairobi by flight or train.
Here you’ll find a bit more detail on activities after (or before) Msambweni.
